Vivace String Camp,
a music camp for string players who love all things creative
This year at camp we continued our tradition of exposure to many art forms as
per our mantra of "Who put the chocolate in my peanut butter?". We are thrilled
with the resulting experience and are busy building on this experience as we plan
for next year!
As a brief camp report we submit the following;
David Kim provided our musical focus early in the week. Mr. Thomas helped
us to compose several musical phrases in different styles. Elaine Gardner and
Curt Steinzor developed movement phrases with us. Maryanne Cappellino
created a watercolor painting while listening to music and then taught some of
us her techniques in recreation. Tai Chi was taught each day by Paul Tsujimoto
while nearby a competitive game of soccer was going on. Swimmers got to the
pool and we enjoyed the water slides at Roseland Waterpark on Thursday. The
Friday night Talent Show showcased the multiple talents that our string players
shared with us. Saturday they showed their stuff in their Chamber Music
Concerts. On Sunday we displayed our talents for our families in our Gala
Concert that featured piano ensemble, guitar ensemble, Vivace Sings, the Del
Gesu and Amati Orchestras.
Art Forms and The Way They Overlap
“Who put the chocolate in my peanut butter?”
We develop the awareness in young learners that all the areas of life that we put passion into, and where we must season a skill by devoted practice, share avenues of access and parallels in demonstration. For string players “practicing” equals experience and investment. This is true in every form in which we wish to express ourselves artistically. By harnessing this understanding we create a greater potential for the student camper to realize their deepest passionate artistic drives and manifest them.
Vivace String Camp seeks to access its’ camper’s interest in developing whatever area of art is most attractive to their passionate selves, and demonstrate the pathway, shared by all, to that end.
